Small Business Networking Services
Cloud services are only as good as the network underneath them. If your office Wi-Fi drops during video calls or your network was set up by whoever was around at the time, it's going to hold everything else back. I design and manage small to mid-size business networks using Ubiquiti UniFi gear -- enterprise-grade hardware at a price point that makes sense for smaller companies.
Why UniFi
Ubiquiti's UniFi line hits a sweet spot for small and mid-size businesses. You get centrally managed networking gear -- routers, switches, access points, cameras -- without the licensing fees that come with Cisco or Meraki. Everything runs through a single management console, and there are no per-device subscriptions eating into your budget year after year.
Network Design & Deployment
I design networks based on what your office actually needs, not a one-size-fits-all template:
- Site survey and coverage planning for Wi-Fi (no dead spots, no guessing)
- UniFi Dream Machine, Security Gateway, or Cloud Gateway deployment
- Managed switch configuration and VLAN segmentation
- Access point placement and tuning for reliable coverage
- Guest network isolation -- keep visitor traffic off your business network
- VPN configuration for remote access and site-to-site connectivity
Network Security
A flat network where everything talks to everything is a risk. I set up proper segmentation and security controls:
- VLAN segmentation -- separate networks for staff, guests, IoT devices, and servers
- Firewall rules and traffic policies on the UniFi gateway
- Intrusion detection and prevention (IDS/IPS)
- DNS filtering for malware and content control
- 802.1X authentication for wired and wireless access (ties into Entra ID if you're using it)
Multi-Site Management
If you have more than one location, UniFi makes it straightforward to manage everything from one place:
- Centralized management across all sites via UniFi Network Application
- Site-to-site VPN between offices
- Consistent network policies and configurations across locations
- Remote monitoring and alerting for every site
Ongoing Management
Networks need regular attention. Firmware updates, new devices, changing office layouts. I can handle this on a retainer so you don't have to think about it:
- Firmware and updates -- keeping UniFi controllers and devices current
- Monitoring -- watching for connectivity issues, performance degradation, and unauthorized devices
- Expansion -- adding access points, switches, or new sites as your business grows
- Troubleshooting -- diagnosing and resolving network issues when they come up
